Staff from SpaMedica were thrilled to attend the Association for Independent Optometry’s annual conference on 1st and 2nd October. The two-day networking and professional development event, which took place on 1st and 2nd October at Chesford Grange in Kenilworth, attracts practising optometrists and optometry students from across the country. Attendees have the opportunity to gain over 30 CPD points by attending specialist seminars on a variety of subjects.
SpaMedica was a platinum sponsor for the event, and it was wonderful to catch up with some familiar faces and meet future generations of optometrists.
Our marketing and promotions teams gave everyone a warm welcome at our exhibition stand, where visitors could find out more about our services, have a coffee and a chat with the team, and take home some branded collateral – including occluders, brochures and pens.
On Saturday, there were some engaging discussions about proposed reforms to the Opticians Act and what they could mean for the future of the profession. Saturday night’s gala dinner proved to be a wonderful networking opportunity and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone in attendance.
On Sunday, attendees had the opportunity to hear from some of the industry’s leading eye experts, including SpaMedica’s Director of Optometry, Professor Chris Purslow, who led lectures and discussions on ‘Cataracts – but not as you may know them’ and ‘Following the Cataract Referral.’ Chris’ sessions had a great turnout and received some fantastic feedback.
It was wonderful to hear about the latest developments in the world of optometry and discuss the future of our profession with colleagues from across the country.
