Employees at SpaMedica, the UK’s leading independent provider of NHS cataract surgery, have been praised by a leading sight loss charity after working to raise an impressive £32,980 for causes close to their hearts this year.
The funds were collected through a variety of activities organised by employees across SpaMedica’s network of hospitals nationwide, and will make a significant impact in the community, providing vital funds for charities that support people living with conditions including sight loss, dementia, and cancer.
One of the charities to benefit from SpaMedica’s fundraising is Guide Dogs UK, an organisation that breeds and trains guide dogs to help people living with vision impairments to live more independently.
Gemma Spencer, Community Fundraising Relationship Manager at Guide Dogs said: “A huge thank you to the teams who’ve done incredibly well to raise so much for us. Support such as this makes a real difference, allowing us to continue funding our life-changing services for people living with sight loss.”
Tom Fellows, Head of Policy and Value Proposition at SpaMedica, says he’s proud of the work employees do for patients and the wider community: “Teams across SpaMedica embrace our value of kindness wholeheartedly and are incredibly generous, both in their approach to their work, and to helping others.
“Each year, they are responsible for improving the vision of thousands of patients – in many cases, transforming their lives. Alongside this, they also go above and beyond to fundraise for charities that work hard to improve the lives of people across the country.
“I know how compassionate and caring our employees are – the money they have raised is testament to that – and it is wonderful to have their efforts recognised by such a brilliant organisation as Guide Dogs UK.”
