SpaMedica to host over 200 optometrists and ophthalmologists at the Hilton Deansgate this September

SpaMedica's Chief Medical Officer, Dr Alex Silvester, presenting at an optometry conference held by SpaMedica in November 2023.

An event which aims to bring together leading professionals in the field of optometry to share innovative techniques, best practices, and the most recent developments in cataract surgery is now open for bookings.

The free, in-person conference is being hosted by SpaMedica on Sunday 15th September, at Manchester’s prestigious Hilton Deansgate.

Targeted at optometrists, ophthalmologists, and healthcare professionals, proceedings start at 1pm, with talks taking place from 2-6pm. A networking reception with drinks and canapes will draw events to a close at 8pm.

With over 55 hospitals across the UK, SpaMedica is one of the country’s leading providers of NHS cataract surgery and has successfully treated thousands of patients, earning a reputation for quality care and excellent outcomes. To date, 35 of the provider’s hospitals have been inspected by the Care Quality Commission, with all of them achieving a ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ rating.

With three training sessions available to attend, delegates can collect up to nine CPD points. Confirmed SpaMedica speakers and topics include:

  • Regional Optometrist Lead for SpaMedica North West, Sarah Hardy: ‘More than you bargained for: Unmasking hidden conditions behind cataracts’

The conference is part of SpaMedica’s ongoing commitment to training and development in the eye health industry. Over the last 12 months, the organisation has helped to upskill over 4,000 optometrists and their teams with a variety of CPD and educational events.

Nadirah Talati was a delegate at a previous optometry conference held by SpaMedica in Manchester and said: “The event was brilliant and managed perfectly. SpaMedica should be very proud – not only (are they) an amazing provider, but also excellent conference providers.”

Richard Woodward, SpaMedica’s CEO, concluded: “We are focused on collaboration within the sector to ensure exceptional care can be provided to patients in need of cataract surgery and other eye treatments. Events like this are vital for nurturing peer relationships, as well as sharing knowledge and the latest industry insights.
