George was born in Athens, Greece, and grew up on a beautiful and remote Greek island called Kythera. He studied medicine in the English-speaking Medical University of Constanta, Romania. After serving in the Army for a year and a half, he went on to become a registrar in ophthalmology, in Bucharest, Romania.

He has also led and overseen several ophthalmology sub-specialty services, such as a Medical Retina Service and Diabetic Screening Service.
George has taken part in several quality and capacity-improving projects in NHS trusts; unifying treatment protocols for medical retinal diseases, implementing virtual clinics, extending roles for nurses within ophthalmology, using electronic patient records and many more.
His love for cataract surgery has, over the years, taken over and George joined SpaMedica as a high-volume cataract surgeon. He currently performs around 3,500 cataract surgeries per year.
His PCR complication rate is around 0.2%, compared to the national rate of 1.1%.
