Working with community optometrists to improve vision
SpaMedica works in partnership with thousands of optometrists to deliver excellent care and support to each of our patients. We have a proven track record as a specialist provider of ophthalmology services, both for NHS and private patients. We are currently the largest NHS cataract surgery provider in the UK, delivering more than 100,000 surgeries/treatments per year.
We are dedicated to drastically reducing waiting times for patients by working together with community optometrists enrolled in our cataract post-operative accreditation scheme. By working together, we can provide great eye care and ultimately improve our patients’ quality of life.
We have more than 5,000 optometrists working with us as part of our ‘SpaMedica Accredited Partner Programme’ for cataract treatment, with over 74% of post-op assessments conducted by our community optometrist partners. A major benefit of our programme is the sharing of patient outcomes and feedback, which reflect the high standard of care and support we are delivering together. SpaMedica is registered with the General Optical Council (GOC) as a CPD provider, and you will receive two CPD points for attending a SpaMedica Cataract Post-Op Accreditation session.
We are also dedicated to providing expert advice and support to community optometrists on cataracts, YAG capsulotomy and AMD. Please contact us to discuss any queries you may have on symptoms, treatments, surgery and/or the referral process.

Patients are due a post-operative appointment two weeks following surgery for the 1st eye, and four weeks for the ‘last’ eye after cataract treatment (please note our post-cataract scheme is ONLY for cataract surgery). If you have not received a letter from SpaMedica with the DC number on to complete the post-op report/outcomes in the MediSoft portal, please contact Steven Taylor on 0330 058 4280 or email steven.taylor@spam.dev.thinkeq.co.uk
