Daniel has over ten years’ experience in the field of ophthalmology and has spent time training in Bulgaria, Germany and the UK.
He has a high level of expertise in carrying out cataract surgery under local or topical (only drops) anaesthesia. Daniel specialises in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma- trabeculectomy, non-penetrating glaucoma surgery (viscocanalostomy), and XEN implants. He has knowledge of performing combined glaucoma and cataract surgery.
Daniel is the Diabetic Retinopathy Lead at St Helens hospital and also manages medical retina conditions (age-related macular degeneration, central retinal vein occlusion, and branch retinal vein occlusion).
The Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) National Ophthalmology Database (NOD) National Cataract Audit collects data on cataract surgeries performed in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Guernsey. The audit is an important quality assurance measure of cataract-removal surgical procedures undertaken in the NHS.
